It has been around 20 years since we launched the Grandessa, the first real back support mattress in Switzerland. Since then, the market has considered Grandessa a byword for healthy, restful sleep.
As the centrepiece of the riposa range, it perfectly encapsulates our passion for back support engineering and our commitment to healthy sleep. riposa has now subtly revised and specifically optimised its classic design. The main feature continues to be the active back support for superb ergonomic body positioning. Meanwhile, one new feature is the breathable climate surface, which has been enhanced according to the latest findings.
Ergonomics proved to be the magic word when riposa developed its own technology for a strong back – Swiss Sleep Technology. This means that every detail contributes to an anatomically correct lying position – for maximum sleep comfort and deep regeneration. «The three functional principles – adjust, support and ventilate – form the foundation for our back support mattresses and modular sleep systems», explains Iva Schnellmann. She and her sister Reta Schellmann are the second-generation directors of this family-run business. «With the relaunch, we have now brought the Grandessa into the present day and made it fit for the future», says Reta Schnellmann.
The «new» Grandessa is all about ergonomics and an optimal bed climate, too. The key element remains the active lumbar support: the unique AirBox system (ABS), with active, thermally tempered springs, ensures ergonomically correct positioning of the body and optimum support for the lower back, in any sleeping position.
The bed climate is another crucial factor for healthy, restful sleep. The Grandessa thus has a new surface, featuring a breathable Quadro membrane and ventilation system, ensuring optimal climate regulation and even better sleeping comfort.
Another highlight for double beds with two mattresses: In the Luxe package, the Grandessa offers exquisite continuity without annoying trenches thanks to the linen edging and side panel reinforcement. In addition, all of the models have been given a new, attractive mattress dress and continue to be available in three firmness levels, or as an anti-allergic version at no extra cost.

Just like the Grandessa, the riposa Flex marks a milestone in the history of riposa innovation.
