Monochrome Style

When colour mediates between the bed and the room.

The monochrome colour collection by riposa is not only intended to enhance your bed, but rather to influence the atmosphere of your bedroom. “There is always an interplay between the room and the bed. The bed, walls, floor and the surrounding furniture and objects enter into a dialogue with each other,” says Swiss designer Jörg Boner, the creator of riposa’s monochrome colour scheme.

MONOCHROME STYLE: BED AIS.

“A flower in a room does something to the room. It is the same with colour.” For the first bed by riposa – the bed Ais – Jörg Boner has defined four different colours in addition to the classic “Nature” version – to add a very personal touch to the bedroom.

Bett Ais Carmine Red text image slider section half 1600x2000px
“Carmine Red is full of energy. In this colour, the bed focuses on itself. It marks a centre in the room. What is more, this colour goes very well with oak parquet floors.” - Jörg Boner talking about the bed Ais colour Carmine Red
Bett Ais Night Blue text image slider section half 1600x2000px
“Night Blue is dark, but never gloomy. The depth of the blue is reminiscent of the night and thus of the function of the bed. It frames the place where we spend our nights. During our regularly recurring cycle of sleep each night, we make the transformation from conscious to unconscious and back again, day after day. Night Blue therefore also stands for depth and the unfathomable. In blue, the bed looks proud, but also calm and inclusive in the room.” - Jörg Boner talking about the bed Ais colour Night Blue
Bett Ais Silk White text image slider section half 1600x2000px
“Silk White has a calming effect and is the lightest colour in the range. It plays with concepts such as purity, elegance and restraint. Silk White emphasises the simplicity and clarity of a shape. In the room, this colour gives the bed a sublime look. It looks proud, yet restrained.” - Jörg Boner talking about the bed Ais colour Silk White
Bett Ais Light Grey text image slider section half 1600x2000px
“Light Grey is the most restrained colour in the entire range. It takes a step back and forms a kind of gentle picture frame around the contents of the bed. This makes the bed a calm, inclusive place. Light Grey can be combined with almost all room situations.” - Jörg Boner talking about the bed Ais colour Light Grey

Sometimes, it’s only nuances.

Sometimes it’s only nuances that decide whether we turn left or right on our path in life. Sometimes it’s only nuances that decide whether something remains vividly in our memory or is gently carried away from our consciousness forever. And sometimes it’s only nuances that decide whether the most colourful emotions flare up in us or calm silence reigns in our emotional world.⠀

MONOCHROME STYLE: AURORA NUANCE.

Jörg Boner has created six monochrome colour families for the Special Edition Aurora Nuance edition of our Boxspring classic Aurora, in which the colours of the textile covers and the bed feet differ only very subtly from one another. Each tonality represents a world of its own.

“Dark blue has great depth. Depth is comparable to an object that we want to pursue as it tries to escape from us. Dark blue is like the night, fascinating and mysterious at the same time. We like the fact that this colour seems to pull us along. Or to put it another way, rather than affecting us, blue is a colour that actually carries us away with it. It is the unfathomable aspect of this version of the Aurora that fascinates us. Moreover, this colour is virtually immune to short-term trends and whims. Dark blue is durable. And constantly recurring, like a shadow. Dark blue can be combined with many environments. Rooms decorated in wood also go well with the Marine Aurora.” - Jörg Boner talking about the Aurora Nuance colour Marine

“As the name suggests, the fresh, blossoming spring forest is the inspiration for this bed. Green is a mixture of the colours blue and yellow. It brings together two different effects that are combined in a soft shade of green. Green is extremely satisfying to the eye. Neither yellow with its exciting freshness, nor blue with its mysterious depth are perceptible in this green any longer. And yet both colours are an integral part of it. Green is, in its best form, a simple colour that immediately gives you a sense of comfort. A green room makes you feel like you don’t want to go any further. A green room makes you want to stay. A green bed even more so.” - Jörg Boner talking about the Aurora Nuance colour Forest

“In its utmost purity it always implies the nature of brightness and has a cheerful, serene, gently stimulating character.” At least, this is how Johann Wolfgang Goethe described the colour yellow in the 18th century. Horizon makes a warm and comforting impression. This colour comes into its own whenever wood as the surrounding material is not directly adjacent to the bed. Many common wood species have a high yellow content of their own. This competes with the bed when the two are too close together, whereas panels or carpeting in anthracite, various shades of grey or beige create an ideal stage for the Aurora Horizon.” - Jörg Boner talking about the Aurora Nuance colour Horizon

“Aurora Fruit is a cheerful bed. The Aurora Fruit makes a very fresh and almost sweet impression, and has something very energetic about it. But it is also a colour of warmth and delight. It corresponds much more to the sunset than to the sunrise. This means that Aurora Fruit is the colour of the late afternoon. Or the early evening, when everything pleasant, lively and joyful about the day is still there before the light turns bluish and moves towards night. Aurora Fruit is particularly attractive on a bright, light grey floor.” - Jörg Boner talking about the Aurora Nuance colour Fruit
734 Shadow Quadrat
“Shadow is universal and does not focus on the effect of colourfulness. Shadow is much more like a raw material. It seems as if the textile is presented in its raw state. The foot colour would probably also be attributed to a raw material. This means that this bed looks very much at home in strong and colourful rooms. Shadow can absorb many different colours from the environment. It takes a back seat as a piece of furniture, yet still makes its presence felt.” - Jörg Boner talking about the Aurora Nuance colour Shadow
733 Mirror Quadrat
“The colour Mirror is related to Marine. But it is just as bright as Horizon. The proportion of colour is lower, which gives it a tendency towards less depth and shadows. Nevertheless, there is a lot of blue and white in this shade. Thanks to the addition of white, the Aurora Mirror can blend into almost any environment. By reducing the amount of colour, Mirror rarely competes with the surrounding colours. This makes it very easy to combine with existing rooms, their materials and colours. The Aurora Mirror comes into its own particularly well in dark rooms.” - Jörg Boner talking about the Aurora Nuance colour Mirror
