The subject of sleep is very important to Wendy Holdener. After all, she knows that only by having a good night's sleep and feeling sufficiently restored will she have the energy she needs to complete her intensive training program and achieve top rankings in the Ski World Cup. But how does Wendy get enough sleep and recovery? This is just what we asked her.
Back, stomach or side sleeper
Wendy: "I sleep on my back and would describe myself as more of a calm late riser who also likes to go to bed early. That’s because sleep is very important in my ‘job’."
Problems falling asleep
Wendy: "The day before a race, I make a plan for race day again while I’m in bed and go through everything in peace. Afterwards I try to fall asleep quickly with some breathing exercises, or with the help of good old valerian drops. They’re always a safe bet.” 😊
